There are so many first and third person shooter games out on the market. To gain some relevance, software developers have to find unique ways to spice up their games. Gaming software developer Softnyx has done just that. Wolfteam is a 3D MMOFPS shooter game where players can change their characters from marines into werewolves and back again right in the middle of intense fighting action. Now, that's a unique twist.

The action is fast-paced and players need to be on their toes to change characters with the simple click of a button. As marines, the player is operating as a first-person-shooter. When the change is made to a werewolf, the gameplay switches to a third person shooting game. Each persona has a unique combat ability within the scope of the game. Marines have access to a large (close to 35 different ones) range of weapons including machine guns, pistols and explosives. As werewolves, the character takes on the ability to scale walls and display physical strength with great speed. The best scenario for battle is to use the marines for shooting and long range combat and when things get tight, revert to werewolves for the hand-to-hand battle scenes. The battle scenes are quite interesting and violent making this game inappropriate for younger kids.

The technical aspects of this game leave lots to be desired. While some of the visual effects are unique, the actual graphics and animation are substandard at best. The game controls are fairly easy to pick up and use. There are several different game modes (death-match, conquest, destruction and base capture) available to help keep the game interesting. Also, the wolves have their own set of special abilities, including the ability to go into ghost mode or form wolf "prides" or clans. These unique aspects help detract from the overall issues with the game. The sound features are adequate. The game requires the standard 512 MB of memory and is compatible with most older versions of Microsoft's operating system.
